Chapter 02
Why we think so
1 point against it and 4 in its favour, checked against the scan evidence.
The reasoning behind this verdict
In the sandbox runs it launched known forensic artefact parsers such as AmcacheParser and JLECmd. Its only network traffic resolved to certificate-revocation checks, and none of the contacted hosts carry a bad reputation.
The processes started from the archive match well-known Windows forensic artefact parsers, and the DLLs loaded are standard runtime and crypto libraries. The sandbox runs recorded no high-risk techniques and no injection into other processes. The two direct IP contacts accompany certificate-status lookups to Sectigo and Comodo, and our host-reputation check found nothing malicious. The main limitation is that the file has very little submission history.
What We Detected
No detections from any of the 75 engines. The archive holds Windows forensic utilities, including AmcacheParser, AppCompatCacheParser and JLECmd, along with their supporting runtime libraries.
Threat Behavior
The sandbox runs show the tools starting and loading their libraries, a version check, and certificate-revocation lookups. There were no high-risk techniques, no injection into other processes, and no persistence. The contacted hosts checked by our reputation lookup are not known to be malicious.
What To Do Now
The archive appears to be a forensic triage toolkit. Use it if you obtained it from a source you trust, and keep your antivirus enabled.
Where this verdict could be wrong1 caveat
- The archive was submitted by only one source and is tagged as obfuscated with debug-environment checks, which bundled Python-based tools can trigger. There is no wider reputation history to confirm where it came from.
These are the assessment's weak points. If you believe one applies to your file, report the verdict and we'll re-review it.
- No antivirus engine flagged the archive, including every major antivirus engine that returned a result.
- The programs inside match well-known Windows forensic parsing tools.
- No high-risk behaviour or process injection was recorded when it ran.
- Network activity consisted of certificate-revocation checks, and none of the contacted hosts have a bad reputation.
- The archive has been seen from only one submitter, so it has little reputation history.

Signatures and behavior heuristics
Low-severity pattern matches — worth noting but not on their own cause for alarm.
VirusTotal's sandbox summary maps this run to MITRE T1055 (Process Injection), but no injected process of the sample's own was recorded (the analysis VM's own WMI adapter, crash handlers and Chrome updater are not counted). VirusTotal maps T1055 on about half of all files no engine flags, so the mapping alone is not evidence of injection.

How widely this file has been seen
Rarely uploaded, and first seen more than two weeks ago. Often niche legitimate software or internal tooling; not a strong malware signal on its own.
