Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using tools.malwaretips.com (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. The Service

We provide free automated security tools — URL scanning, password generation, and related utilities. Scan verdicts are generated by combining signals from multiple third-party providers and an internal heuristic / AI pipeline. Verdicts are informational only. They are not a substitute for professional security advice, and we make no warranty that any verdict is accurate, complete, or current.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to scrape, resell, or redistribute scan results in bulk without written permission.
• Submit URLs you don't have a legitimate reason to scan — e.g. to harass another site operator.
• Submit URLs that contain personal information in query strings (tokens, passwords, session IDs).
• Attempt to probe, reverse-engineer, or overload our infrastructure.
• Use the Service in any jurisdiction where its use is prohibited.
• Post defamatory, harassing, or illegal content in comments.

4. Rate limits and abuse

We apply per-IP and per-account rate limits to keep the Service available to everyone. Automated scraping, bypass attempts, and deliberately abusive traffic will result in your IP or account being blocked without notice. Repeated abuse may be reported to your upstream provider.

5. User-generated content

When you post a comment, rating, or tag on a scan report, you grant MalwareTips a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, moderate, and archive that content as part of the Service. You keep ownership of what you write. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms.

6. Accuracy, disputes, and takedowns

Our scan verdicts are automated and will sometimes be wrong. If your site has been flagged in error and the verdict is materially damaging to your business, contact the MalwareTips staff via the forum. Staff reviewers can override the verdict, hide the report, or mark your brand as verified. We evaluate takedown requests on a case-by-case basis and don't guarantee removal.

Conversely, if you're a user who has been scammed by a site that's currently marked "safe", please leave a comment with your evidence — we take real-user reports seriously.

7. Intellectual property

All content on the Service — excluding user-submitted comments and third-party reputation data — is © MalwareTips. The MIT licence covers code we publish on our GitHub organisation unless stated otherwise. Trademarks and logos mentioned in scan reports belong to their respective owners.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY VERDICT IS ACCURATE. YOU USE THE SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MalwareTips, its operators, moderators, and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service — including lost profits, lost data, or reputational harm from an incorrect verdict.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Substantive changes will be announced on the forum and reflected in the "last updated" date above. Continued use after changes means you accept the new Terms.
