File scan report
Verdict Suspicious
Is jpeg_ wrapper. dll safe? Treat it as suspicious.
An Adobe-named JPEG library with an invalid signature and one Microsoft machine-learning trojan detection out of 75 engines.
Read the whole reasonShow less
Why Suspicious? One antivirus engine (Microsoft) flags it; nothing else confirms it.
Limited evidence
Do not run or keep this DLL unless it came from an official Adobe install. Reinstalling the Adobe product from Adobe's site is the safest way to restore a genuine copy.
What to do now4 steps
Some signs point to a problem, but nothing confirms it is harmful. Treat it with caution.
What to do
Don't use it unless you're sure where it came from.
Check where you got it: an unexpected attachment, a link someone sent you or a re-upload is a red flag.
If you can't confirm where it came from, delete it. If you need the program, download it again from the publisher's own website.
If you already used it
Stop using it, run a full scan with your antivirus and watch for unexpected behavior or security alerts.

Chapter 02
Why we think so
3 points against it and 4 in its favour, checked against the scan evidence.
The reasoning behind this verdict
Only Microsoft flagged this DLL, out of 75 engines, using a machine-learning label. One sandbox run showed nothing harmful. However, its Adobe signature does not validate, so we cannot confirm it is genuine Adobe code.
A single major antivirus engine, Microsoft, reports a cloud machine-learning detection named Posilod. Sixteen other major antivirus engines are silent. The file claims Adobe as signer, but the signature is marked invalid and could not be verified, so the Adobe name carries no trust. Earlier Adobe files we reviewed were mostly clean, but they all had valid signatures. One sandbox run was clean, and the contacted hosts we checked carry no malicious reputation. The DLL's exports match a JPEG codec component. These are mixed signals that justify caution rather than alarm.
What We Detected
Microsoft flagged the file as Trojan:Win32/Posilod.EB!cl, the only detection among 75 engines. The DLL names Adobe Inc. as signer, but the signature is invalid and unverified. No researcher YARA rules or malware-feed entries match it.
Threat Behavior
One sandbox run returned clean. That run loaded the library through rundll32 and called JPEG-related export functions, and no offensive techniques were observed. Its network contacts were system background traffic and an MSN endpoint with no malicious reputation. The code sections show normal entropy and no packing.
What To Do Now
Only use this DLL if it came from an official Adobe installation or update. If you received it separately, replace it by reinstalling the Adobe product from Adobe's official source. Keep your antivirus enabled.
Where this verdict could be wrong2 caveats
- The invalid signature may come from file modification or truncation of a genuine Adobe library rather than tampering. The structure and exports look like an ordinary JPEG codec, and 16 of 17 major antivirus engines did not flag it.
- Microsoft's '!cl' suffix indicates a cloud machine-learning detection, and these often produce false positives on large legitimate libraries.
These are the assessment's weak points. If you believe one applies to your file, report the verdict and we'll re-review it.
- Only 1 of the 71 antivirus engines that checked it flagged it, and 16 other major antivirus engines did not
- A sandbox run showed no harmful behaviour
- Its exported functions match a normal JPEG image library
- No matches in researcher rule sets or malware feeds
- The Adobe signature on this file is invalid and could not be verified
- Microsoft's engine flags it as a Posilod trojan
- There is not enough signer history to confirm the file's origin
