Uruguayan press and the Church name papaleonuruguay.uy as the official papal-visit site, but the page's own operator and raffle terms were never reviewed
This is the site for the apostolic visit of Pope Leo XIV to Uruguay in 2026, carrying the "VIAJE APOSTÓLICO A LEÓN XIV · URUGUAY 2026" branding, a papal portrait, free-ticket venue buttons for Paysandú, Montevideo and Florida, a Donar button and a paid raffle for an apartment, a car and a trip to Rome. Several independent Uruguayan outlets and Rome Reports point readers to papaleonuruguay.uy for tickets and for the raffle, which supports the site's claimed identity. What holds the score in the low-risk band rather than Safe is that the page is script-built, so its contact details, operator disclosure and raffle terms were not reviewed, and the site takes money through donations and raffle numbers without those terms being visible to our review.

Investigation Brief
Independent coverage matches the site's own claim
El Observador tells readers to go to www.papaleonuruguay.uy to register for tickets, Radio Montecarlo says the free tickets are obtained through the official site papaleonuruguay.uy, and Rome Reports describes tickets and the fundraising raffle as running through the same address. Telenoche likewise reports that the raffle will be sold on papaleonuruguay.uy. That is consistent corroboration from separate newsrooms, not a single recycled press release.
The page itself shows the matching branding and navigation: a crest logo reading "VIAJE APOSTÓLICO A LEÓN XIV · URUGUAY 2026", menu items including El Viaje, Noticias, Ver en vivo, Participá, Prensa and Contacto, a gold Donar button, and a hero reading "LES ANUNCIO UNA GRAN ALEGRÍA" with venue buttons for Paysandú on 7 November at 10:00, Montevideo on 7 November at 19:00 and Florida on 8 November at 10:30.
Money is collected on the page, but the terms behind it were not visible
Below the ticket area the site runs a raffle block headed "RIFA · UNA GRAN ALEGRÍA" promising an apartment, a car or a trip to Rome, with the line "Comprá tu número en 1 minuto y sé uno de los 14 ganadores." Together with the Donar button, that means the page is a place where visitors pay money, not just read news.
The page builds its content with scripts, so its own contact details were not visible to our page reader and were not reviewed. We therefore could not confirm who legally operates the site, whether the raffle is registered with a Uruguayan regulator, where the Donar and raffle buttons send a payment, or what the draw date and refund rules are. Those gaps are the reason this is not rated Safe.
No technical threat, and a separate ticket-scam warning for the same event
The browser threat feed returned no threat warning, the saved TLS check found a valid encrypted connection, and the hosting IP carries an abuse confidence score of 0/100 across 73 saved reports. Nothing in the technical checks points to malware, phishing or a hijacked server.
Separately, Uruguayan outlets including El País, El Debate and EWTN News report that the Catholic Church in Uruguay has warned about people posing as sellers of tickets for the same papal visit. Those warnings describe third-party impostors around the event; they do not identify papaleonuruguay.uy as the fraudulent seller, and no evidence here shows this domain taking money without delivering.
Why the score is 72
The saved checks found no material threat, but the evidence was not strong enough for the highest Safe tier.

The plumbing behind the site — who registered it, how it’s encrypted, where it’s hosted, and where it links out. A valid certificate or a calm server doesn’t mean the business is honest — scam sites pass these checks too.
