Read the whole reasonShow less
Why Suspicious? 21 antivirus engines flag it and one sandbox test run rated it malicious while another found nothing.
Moderate evidence · More than one sign points to a problem, but nothing confirms it is harmful.
Avoid running this unofficial installer. Delete it, obtain software only from legitimate sources, and keep your security software enabled.
What to do now4 steps
Some signs point to a problem, but nothing confirms it is harmful. Treat it with caution.
What to do
Don't install it unless you're sure where it came from.
Check where you got it: an unexpected attachment, a link someone sent you or a re-upload is a red flag.
If you can't confirm where it came from, delete it. If you need the program, download it again from the publisher's own website.
If you already installed it
Stop using it, run a full scan with your antivirus and watch for unexpected behavior or security alerts.
Not sure what to do?
Ask the MalwareTips community before you run it. If you already ran it, follow the cleanup guide.

Chapter 02
Why we think so
5 points against it and 3 in its favour, checked against the scan evidence.
The reasoning behind this verdict
This unsigned installer appears to be a repacked or cracked game setup, first seen on Oct 17, 2026. Microsoft, TrendMicro, Symantec and other engines flag it, several with crack-related labels. The sandbox runs disagreed: one combined label says malware and another says clean.
Many labels point to Yomal or to crack and riskware detections, which commonly target pirated software installers. The sandbox runs show an Inno Setup installer extracting helper tools and referencing a game install. No named process injection or network contact was recorded, and the sandbox verdicts were split. One dropped file appears in a public malware-sharing database. The file is unsigned, and no contacted-host reputation result is available.
What We Detected
21 of the 70 antivirus engines that checked it flagged this unsigned installer, including Microsoft (Trojan:Win32/Yomal!rfn), TrendMicro, Symantec, Sophos, Ikarus and GData. Malwarebytes and CAT-QuickHeal label it as crack-related. The engines do not agree on a single family.
Threat Behavior
In the sandbox, the file ran as an Inno Setup installer, extracted helper tools and DLLs to a temporary folder, and set compatibility flags for a game executable. No injection target and no network contacts were recorded. One sandbox verdict was malicious and another was clean. One dropped file is listed in a public malware-sharing database.
What To Do Now
Do not run this installer. Get software only from official sources, and keep your antivirus enabled.
Where this verdict could be wrong2 caveats
- The file is widely shared (over 3,000 submitters) and the observed activity is ordinary installer behaviour, so the detections may target the cracked game content rather than hidden malware.
- Ten major antivirus engines, including BitDefender, Avast, Avira and DrWeb, reported no detection.
These are the assessment's weak points. If you believe one applies to your file, report the verdict and we'll re-review it.
- Shared by over 3,000 submitters
- No process injection or network contacts recorded in the sandbox runs
- No packing detected
- Seven major antivirus engines flag the file, including Microsoft and TrendMicro
- Engine labels point to cracked or pirated software
- The file has no code signature
- A dropped file is listed in a public malware-sharing database
- One sandbox verdict was malicious

What the test run showed
What the file did on a test computer
Confirmed in the test run
Moderate concern: Contains packed or scrambled code that is harder to inspect (common in installers too).
Moderate concern: Ran commands or a script on the test computer.
Moderate concern: Unpacked hidden content while it ran.
Moderate concern: Checked whether it was running on a test computer.
Note: Read the user name of the test computer.
Note: Listed the programs running on the test computer.
Note: Read basic details of the test computer, such as its Windows version.
Sandbox labels we could not confirm (common in safe files too)
Not confirmed: A sandbox rule tagged this run as code injection, but no injected program was recorded.
Not confirmed: A sandbox rule tagged this run as contacting a server, but no contacted host was recorded.
Not confirmed: A sandbox rule tagged this run as changing how Windows loads code; nothing confirms it.
This file was run on a test computer (a sandbox), not on yours. Labels we could not confirm are listed so you can see them, but they are not treated as evidence against the file.

Signatures and behavior heuristics
Low-severity pattern matches — worth noting but not on their own cause for alarm.
VirusTotal's sandbox summary maps this run to MITRE T1055 (Process Injection), but no injected process of the sample's own was recorded (the analysis VM's own WMI adapter, crash handlers and Chrome updater are not counted). VirusTotal maps T1055 on about half of all files no engine flags, so the mapping alone is not evidence of injection.

Section entropy & packers
No high-entropy executable section or known packer signature was detected. Data and resource sections can still have high entropy without indicating packed code.
How widely this file has been seen
Lots of people are uploading this but it's recent — typical of newly-released legitimate software. Low prior for malware.
