File scan report
Verdict Malicious
Is setup. exe safe? No, we rate this exact file malicious.
This unsigned installer is flagged by 18 of the 71 antivirus engines that checked it, including Microsoft, as a software crack hacking tool, and it reaches out to game-repack…
Read the whole reasonShow less
Strong evidence · Two or more major antivirus engines agree.
Do not run this cracked installer. Remove anything it installed and scan your system with your security software enabled.
What to do now4 steps
This is a hacking tool. It is risky to keep and run, but finding it is not by itself a sign that the device is infected.
What to do
Don't install it unless you got it on purpose for security testing on systems you own. Delete it, then empty the Recycle Bin.
If you didn't put it on the device yourself, delete it and run a full antivirus scan: something else may have brought it.
Tools like this often come with cracked or pirated software. If it came that way, treat the whole download as unsafe and scan everything it installed.
If you already installed it
Stop using it, run a full scan with your antivirus and watch for unexpected behavior or security alerts.
If you opened or installed it
Avoid banking and sign-ins on that device until it is clean. These free MalwareTips guides walk you through it.

Chapter 02
Why we think so
5 points against it and 4 in its favour, checked against the scan evidence.
The reasoning behind this verdict
Microsoft and several others identify it as a cracking tool, and other engines label it riskware or unwanted software. One sandbox run returned malicious and another returned clean, and the file contacted game-repack and image-hosting sites.
Four major antivirus engines flag the file. Microsoft labels it a crack hacking tool, and CAT-QuickHeal, Rising, Kingsoft and Malwarebytes give similar crack labels. No engine names a specific malware family, and the sandbox runs disagreed: one returned malicious and one returned clean. The file was not seen injecting into other processes, and no contacted host is in our malicious list. Even so, the file is unsigned, it is a cracked-software installer from a repack source, and similar installers built the same way were previously judged risky. Cracked installers are a common way to deliver unwanted or harmful payloads, so the confirmed cracking-tool labels decide the call.
What We Detected
18 of the 71 antivirus engines that checked it flagged this file, including four major antivirus engines: Microsoft (HackTool:Win32/Crack), Sophos, Fortinet and Trellix. Other engines label it crack riskware. The file is unsigned and was first seen on May 2, 2024. It has been widely submitted.
Threat Behavior
In the sandbox, an Inno Setup-style installer unpacked helper libraries and contacted a game-repack site, a link shortener and image hosts. One run returned malicious and another returned clean. No process injection target was recorded, and no contacted host is in our malicious list.
What To Do Now
Do not run this installer. If it has already been run, uninstall what it installed, run a full scan with your security software kept enabled, and get software only from official sources.
Where this verdict could be wrong2 caveats
- The file is widely shared (thousands of submitters since 2024) and no engine names a real malware family; the detections may reflect a crack or repack installer rather than data-stealing malware.
- No high-risk runtime techniques were confirmed, no injection target was recorded, and one sandbox run returned clean.
These are the assessment's weak points. If you believe one applies to your file, report the verdict and we'll re-review it.
- Widely shared since May 2, 2024
- No process injection target observed
- No contacted host is in our malicious list
- No listing in malware reference databases
- Microsoft and other engines identify it as a software cracking tool
- 18 of the 71 antivirus engines that checked it flag it, four of them major
- The installer is unsigned
- Contacts a game-repack website
- One sandbox run returned a malicious verdict

What the test run showed
What the file did on a test computer
Confirmed in the test run
Moderate concern: Contains packed or scrambled code that is harder to inspect (common in installers too).
Moderate concern: Ran commands or a script on the test computer.
Moderate concern: Used an unusual way to talk to a server.
Moderate concern: Downloaded a file during the test run.
Moderate concern: Checked whether it was running on a test computer.
Note: Read the user name of the test computer.
Note: Listed the programs running on the test computer.
Sandbox labels we could not confirm (common in safe files too)
Not confirmed: A sandbox rule tagged this run as code injection, but no injected program was recorded.
Not confirmed: A sandbox rule tagged this run as recording keystrokes; no keylogging was confirmed.
Not confirmed: A sandbox rule tagged this run as weakening security settings; no setting change was recorded.
Not confirmed: A sandbox rule tagged this run as changing how Windows loads code; nothing confirms it.
This file was run on a test computer (a sandbox), not on yours. Labels we could not confirm are listed so you can see them, but they are not treated as evidence against the file.
Threat context
How hacking tools are used
Hacking tools are programs that can switch off security software, test passwords or attack other computers. Security professionals use them on purpose; criminals also bundle them with malware.
Bottom line:Keep it only if you installed it on purpose, and check how it got onto the device if you didn't.

Signatures and behavior heuristics
Low-severity pattern matches — worth noting but not on their own cause for alarm.
VirusTotal's sandbox summary maps this run to MITRE T1055 (Process Injection), but no injected process of the sample's own was recorded (the analysis VM's own WMI adapter, crash handlers and Chrome updater are not counted). VirusTotal maps T1055 on about half of all files no engine flags, so the mapping alone is not evidence of injection.

Section entropy & packers
No high-entropy executable section or known packer signature was detected. Data and resource sections can still have high entropy without indicating packed code.
How widely this file has been seen
Widely seen in the wild for a long time. High prior this is legitimate; isolated detections on common-old files are usually false positives.
