What to do now4 steps
This file is harmful. Don't run it, and remove it.
If you haven't run it
Don't run this file. Delete it, then empty the Recycle Bin.
If you already ran it
Disconnect the device from the internet, then run a full antivirus scan. Microsoft Defender Offline (Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Scan options) also finds malware that hides while Windows runs.
If you typed passwords on the device after running it, change them from another device you trust.
If the scan keeps finding it, or the device still acts strangely, scan again with a second-opinion scanner from another company; if that doesn't fix it, back up your personal files and reinstall Windows.
If you already ran it, do these in order.

Chapter 02
Why we think so
4 points against it and 3 in its favour, checked against the scan evidence.
The reasoning behind this verdict
Eight engines detected the sample, including one major antivirus engine naming NSIS.Agent and another explicitly calling GuLoader/NSIS. The file is unsigned, and drops multiple files under AppData while using token manipulation.
The combination of a detection from a major antivirus engine on a known NSIS downloader family, explicit GuLoader label from Rising, and offensive MITRE technique outweighs the limited major consensus. Zero signer history and rare and prevalence further reduce the chance of a benign installer. Sandbox and file it created signals are absent, but the engine labels and dropped-file pattern are consistent with GuLoader loaders.
What We Detected
8 of the 59 antivirus engines that checked it flagged the 687 kB Win32 EXE. Kaspersky (major) reported VHO:Trojan.NSIS.Agent.gen; Rising labelled it Downloader.GuLoader/NSIS. Four smaller engines also returned malicious verdicts. The sample is unsigned and first seen on Jul 13, 2026.
Threat Behavior
Behaviour analysis recorded T1134 (Access Token Manipulation) plus 13 techniques common in legitimate software. Eight files were written under AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Templates\glutamine, a pattern typical of NSIS-based loaders. No control-server domains or malicious child hashes were observed in the current run.
What To Do Now
Do not execute the file. Quarantine or delete it. If the file arrived via email or download link, scan the source and monitor for follow-on payloads.
Where this verdict could be wrong2 caveats
- No sandbox verdicts, no malicious files it created, no contacted malicious hosts — behaviour in the test run lacks direct a control server or payload execution confirmation.
- No YARAify or CIRCL hits; similarHashes empty — external researcher corroboration is absent.
These are the assessment's weak points. If you believe one applies to your file, report the verdict and we'll re-review it.
- No malicious sandbox verdict
- No malicious files it created
- No contacted malicious hosts
- Unsigned executable
- Rare new prevalence
- token manipulation
- GuLoader/NSIS engine labels

What the test run showed
What the file did on a test computer
Confirmed in the test run
Moderate concern: Contains packed or scrambled code that is harder to inspect (common in installers too).
Moderate concern: Ran commands or a script on the test computer.
Note: Read basic details of the test computer, such as its Windows version.
Note: Looked through folders on the test computer (most installers do this).
Note: Loaded extra code modules while running.
Sandbox labels we could not confirm (common in safe files too)
Not confirmed: A sandbox rule tagged this run as setting up auto-start; no auto-start entry was recorded.
This file was run on a test computer (a sandbox), not on yours. Labels we could not confirm are listed so you can see them, but they are not treated as evidence against the file.
Threat context
How downloaders work
This file is a delivery vehicle. On its own it can look small and harmless, but its job is to fetch and install the real payload, often a password stealer, ransomware or a bot, from a server the attacker controls.
Bottom line:Because the dangerous part arrives later, early scans can look cleaner than the threat really is.

Section entropy & packers
No high-entropy executable section or known packer signature was detected. Data and resource sections can still have high entropy without indicating packed code.
How widely this file has been seen
Rarely uploaded, and first seen more than two weeks ago. Often niche legitimate software or internal tooling; not a strong malware signal on its own.
